Flow my tears

“If the title promises tears, unwelcome guests in these times of rejoicing, those shed by Music are no less pleasant; moreover, tears are not always shed in sorrow, for they sometimes accompany joy and gladness”. These words by John Dowland in 1604, in his preface to Lachrimae, perfectly illustrate the concert Flow my tears, the title of which is borrowed from one of Dowland’s best-known songs. Plunge into the intimate world of English Songs, where the greatest English composers of the 17th century delicately teaching us about the art of melancholy.

cantoLX is a professional vocal ensemble based in Luxembourg. Its repertoire focuses mainly on the Baroque period, but also includes Renaissance and contemporary music. As a variable-geometry ensemble, cantoLX adapts to different repertoires, while at the same time following historical research and taking part in the debate on the number of singers per voice. Thanks to its core of soloists, the ensemble retains a sound identity that is recognisable in each of its formations.

Its repertoire focuses mainly on the Baroque period, but does not exclude Renaissance, 19th-century or contemporary music.
