The project involves researching and documenting Luxembourg’s industrial past, in particular the remains of machines and tools used in metal processing. There are colossal remains of machine parts in the south of the country. These remains have historical, sentimental and aesthetic value. My intention is to show the sublimity of these remains in the space of neimënster.

The idea for the project came from a visit to the remains of one of the many steelworks in the south of the country. As is usual in some of the projects and series I’ve done, I’m interested in contrasting things that at first glance are opposites or have nothing in common. So, when you think of the Abbey as a site for an intervention, which is in principle situated in a privileged location, in the centre of the city, surrounded by gardens, next to the river and with spectacular views over the Casemates, it seems to me that the contrast between these two sites could be interesting. But how can this contrast be made visible at the same time?
