Don Pasquale

de Gaetano Donizetti

Sequenda Opera Studio Luxembourg asbl

When and where

Donizetti's opera Don Pasquale is a timeless, turbulent comedy full of bounces and surprises, intrigue and emotional moments. Don Pasquale, an old wealthy bachelor, decides to get married in order to disinherit his nephew Ernesto. The young man, contrary to his uncle's wishes, wants to marry the penniless widow Norina. But his confidant Malatesta takes the side of the young couple and sets a trap for them. The stage director Caterina Panti Liberovici chose a staging in Vaudeville style using the typical figures of the Commedia dell'Arte. With young talents as soloists and artistic original paintings of the Swiss artist Raffaela Zenoni decorating the stage, the Compagnie Sequenda underscores its excellent reputation in the international opera scene.
