Cléo Totti

Her practice focuses mainly on installations and paintings. She explores certain transformations inherent in the transition from one technical and epistemic era to another: from the industrial age to the digital age. And so, too, the relationships that contemporary human societies have with advanced technologies on a global scale. She creates sculptures, digital paintings, photographs, videos, sound pieces, installations and performances using a wide range of organic materials, including wax, clay, plaster, aluminium, steel, copper and textiles… One of the main motifs is the human body, which is fragmented, distorted and transformed into pictorial objects. Alternating between liquid and solid states, through her conceptual approach and processes such as assemblage and collage, she attempts to signal the fluidity and hybridity between genres, conceiving bodies that are both synthetic and natural. One of the challenges of her practice is to break down the boundaries between different artistic disciplines in order to propose a new form of total art and performative tableaux.

During her residency at neimënster, she intends to develop a new project, Fantômes, which will look at contemporary society, precariousness and changes in our habits and behaviour.
