Carte blanche by FOQUS
EN: FOQUS is a collective of creatives that brings together composers and musicians, content creators and sound designers around ambitious artistic projects. They offer all-round services ranging from audiovisual, marketing to project management.
For this carte blanche, they present award winning artist and performer EDSUN, who will be supported by young prodigy Maya Maunet. Aamar opens the evening with an eclectic DJ set.
EDSUN creates an alternative Pop/R&B with a unique sound. The dreamy and atmospheric sound, infused with powerful vocals and distinctive beats, are making him unmatched to the Luxembourg music scene. Incorporating contemporary dance in his performances seems to make EDSUN intriguing and limitless. EDSUN won Artist of the Year and Music Video of the Year at the Luxembourg Music Awards 2019. He was the support act for Mike Shinoda and also performed twice at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona and BIME City Pro 2019. In 2020, EDSUN was one of the main acts for the Free Mobility concert, inaugurating Luxembourg as the first country in the world with free public transport.
For MAYA MAUNET, music wasn’t just a creative outlet, it was a necessity. It was her only form of self expression. Growing up Maya spent a lot of her time working through a stutter, quickly coming to the realization the only way she could communicate freely was through singing. Working through this stammer and shedding the negative energy around her Maya has been able to come into her own through music and songwriting. At 20 years old Maya explores her own confidence, growing up and the love for the people and animals she surrounds herself with through song. Merging a wide range of influences from Blackstreet, Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Mary J. Blige, and a deep love for horror films, Maya arrives onto the music scene with a bold, refined and powerful sound, ready to be an inspiration for other young black girls and artists who still do not get the recognition they deserve.
Originally from Cape Verde and raised in Luxembourg, AAMAR is an electronic music producer, combining elements of synthwave, shoegaze, soul and hip-hop. An avid record collector, he used to sneak out at a young age to watch DJs scratch, which turned him to producing and releasing his own music.
