The former military hospital, built between 1863 and 1866, owes its nickname "the Criminal" to neimënster's prison history. At that time, the most dangerous criminals were imprisoned here. Today, the building is named after the famous Luxembourg philologist and dialectologist Robert Bruch, who was imprisoned here during the Nazi occupation. Today, it houses workshops and housing for artists in residence. The building, massive and austere in appearance and designed to withstand bombing, has a unique architectural character with exposed stone walls, arches in the third floor ceilings and the use of modern materials in its restoration.
