Plume de fiel - Images de haine
The exhibition Plume de fiel, images de haine. Outline of an unusual collection is dedicated to an exceptional iconography and to a man, Arthur Langerman, a Belgian of Antwerp origin, born in the middle of the war, who for nearly 50 years has been driven by a duty to remember and pass awareness on.
The selection of images reproducing the various objects in the collection provides a glimpse into the collective madness that is visual anti-Semitism, a centuries-old and worldwide phenomenon. The visitor is invited to follow the chronological and thematic thread that runs from religious anti-Judaism to social and political anti-Semitism. It is a question of confronting the representation of the Jew from the Middle Ages to the present day, in an attempt to better understand how this iconography has been shaped and transmitted over the centuries in Europe, from the North to the South, from the West to the East, in the United States of America, and elsewhere.
