The garden

The CCRN has entrusted the layout of the cloister garden: a burial ground, a place of prayer and of contemplation at the time when the Abbey was inhabited by monks, to the landscape artist Agnès Daval. She has created therein a contemporary work. Stone benches, which call to mind the garden benches of the Sixteenth century, act as a monumental opposing force to the rounded vaults and arches of the Abbey’s windows. They rise from the gound at different heights and offer, with lines traced on the ground or sculpted in the stone, a subtle interplay of perspectives, as one walks along.
